Hyte has announced a larger version of its THICC P60 Duo featuring a 360mm radiator and a new fan design. It takes what made the original shine and pushes it further, for those who have enough space in their case.
The THICC Q80 Trio is a 360mm AIO liquid cooler that boasts an impressive 52mm thick radiator. It features an eye-catching 5in IPS Display with a 42-pixel RGB array on its rear, making your build blink like a Christmas tree. The THICC Q80 Trio is compatible with the brand’s daisy-chainable connections, supporting and controlling up to 18 devices – 36 using the USB Type-M connection. Hyte claims that its cooler can absorb more watts than any other liquid cooler, which sounds plausible for its size.
Another unique aspect of the THICC Q80 Trio is its dual-pump design. Yep, you heard that right, not satisfied with the chunkiest radiator on the AIO market, Hyte has also included two pumps working in tandem located between the radiator fins. All of this combines with a revised copper cold plate, which reportedly improves temperatures by 2°C. A powerful and unique product, at least on paper.
On the subject of uniqueness, Hyte may have gone too far in one aspect of this cooler, and that’s the fans. If you look closely, you will notice that all three rotors are connected to a single long frame with three holes. While this design may improve cooling by stopping air leakage between fans, it remains a non-standard format. Owners could have a hard time finding replacement parts, not to forget that one broken blade or motor means you need to replace the equivalent of three fans. Though, I must confess that this sleek design looks great.
Moreover, note that the fans seem to be installed in a pull configuration which as far as I know isn’t the best for fin-dense radiators. But that may be due to unoptimised fans, unlike these, which seem built from the ground up towards this job. For its part, Hyte claims 105.8CFM of airflow and 8.14mmH2O of static pressure. What is sure is that reducing the screw count from 12 to 4 will simplify the cleaning process a lot.
The THICC Q80 Trio will be available in August 2024 at a yet unknown price. You can expect at least £400 since Q60 240mm retails for £329.99.
