Intel Arc B580 has been put through the 3DMark benchmark giving us a glimpse at its potential performance. This Battlemage chip seems to pack a punch for its price, which is great.
Chiphell user GPX-John has shared a 3DMark TimeSpy test result said to be of an Intel Arc B580 Limited Edition graphics card. In it, we can see that the GPU managed to claim 14,719 points, putting it comfortably ahead of equivalently priced cards. To be more specific, B580 is 11% faster than last-gen’s A770, and a whopping 31% faster than the RTX 4060.
Based on these scores, Intel seems to have a well-balanced product. Even at equivalent performance to RTX 4060 or Arc A770, Arc B580 would still be worth considering due to its lower price. Not to mention its improved ray tracing capabilities, and higher VRAM capacity compared to the RTX 4060.
For reference, Arc B580 is set to retail for $249, plus $10 or so if you prefer custom models. RTX 4060 on the other hand demands at least $289 for the cheapest model, followed by Arc A770 at $279. That said, if you act quickly there is one ASRock A770 model discounted to $230 on Newegg.
That said, this test isn’t fully representative of gaming performance, since Intel chips tend to be good at synthetic benchmarks. For example, Arc A770 shows a 17% uplift compared to the RTX 4060 in 3DMark TimeSpy, but both are neck and neck in games at 1440p. Moreover, even Intel’s own slides put B580 10% ahead of RTX 4060, contrasting with the huge 31% boost found by 3DMark.
But regardless of whether it’s 31%, 10%, or even 5%, B580 has many aces up its sleeve. If not the price, then the extra VRAM or the hope of driver improvements down the line. Team Blue targets 1440p gaming with this mid-range offering, which sounds reasonable when considering the new upscaling and frame generation features.
