Intel may unveil Battlemage GPUs next month

Intel needs to make the magic happen.

Intel may officially present its Arc Battlemage GPUs next month. Said to focus on the mid-range, these GPUs have the potential to grab users’ attention if priced aggressively like their predecessors.

According to leaker Golden Pig Upgrade on Weibo, Team Blue will unveil or even launch its new GPUs next month. Eagerly awaited to boost competitiveness, Intel’s second-gen desktop GPUs are once more focusing on the mid and low-end segments. Assuming the brand continues its aggressive pricing strategy to claim more market share, Arc Battlemage could offer excellent value for money.

While this wouldn’t be the first time we see Battlemage architecture in action since it already exists inside the Xe2 iGPU of Lunar Lake chips, the desktop variant should feature many changes. For instance, the frequency, power budget, VRAM speed and type, and GPU die sizes are likely to be better on desktop. Each one of these can play a big role in improving performance.

That said, the question most users will ask is, how much uplift are we talking about and at what cost? According to the leaker, things seem to be promising, as they’re “looking forward to the wonderful performance of Battlemage.” Seeing how Intel worked hard on its driver optimisations with Alchemist chips, we also have great hopes for its successor.

As for pricing, we don’t see Intel charging a lot for its GPUs, even if they turn out well. Many users are still hesitant to make the switch. What Arc graphics cards need is stability first and foremost, as no one likes unstable games or lack of support.

Regardless, with Nvidia’s RTX 50 Series and AMD’s RX 8000 expected in early 2025, launching Battlemage before the end of the year seems to be the best strategy. Hopefully, Intel’s graphics will be more warmly welcomed than its latest Core Ultra 200K processors. Thankfully, we don’t have long to wait, as other rumours mention a launch near the Black Friday sales, indicating early December. So, stay tuned.
