In the short time it’s been on shelves, Meta Quest 3S proved itself worthy a budget current-gen VR headset, trimming features from its premium sibling to achieve a lower price point. Now, it’s getting its first major discount three months after release, lowering the barrier to entry even further. Better yet, it includes 2024’s best virtual reality game: Batman Arkham Shadow.

While the 128GB version remains at full price, 13% off the 256GB model places it at just $349 on Amazon. The deal is exclusive to the US, with the $50 saving making it the cheapest it’s ever been.

Meta Quest 3S (256GB)

Transform your reality and do everything you love in totally new ways thanks to Meta Quest’s best-priced virtual reality headset.

Despite being Meta’s budget-friendly alternative to Quest 3, it carries most of the same hardware under the hood. An identical Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 chipset lies at the heart with 8GB of RAM and the same Touch Pro controllers. Anything you can play on the premium model, you can run just fine on Quest 3S, you’ll just see it a little differently. Using the same 1832×1920 Fresnel lenses as Quest 2, it’s a step down from the sharper pancake lenses on its big brother.

Sweetening the deal is a free copy of Batman Arkham Shadow, stepping you into the shoes of The Dark Knight himself. It’s a remarkable attempt at translating Rocksteady’s renowned action adventure series into virtual reality, featuring engaging puzzles and a good mystery. Unlike Arkham VR, it also introduces punchy combat that works surprisingly well, treading the line between power trip and challenging.

One of my favourite things about Meta Quest headsets is the ability to use them as a face-hugging PC screen. Multi-tasking is far easier being able to pull up multiple displays at once, letting you play standard games with a YouTube video off to the side. Or, you can transform your setup into a personal theatre by dimming the room around you.

Using the money you’ve saved, it might be worth investing in a few accessories. Alongside a better carry case, I recommend the Elite Strap and battery for a more comfortable, longer lasting experience. For the likes of Arkham Shadow, it’s also worth exploring controller grips as you fling your fists.
