Peripheral brand Mountain, recently acquired by Listan Group and best known for its keyboards, is releasing its second take on a gaming mouse, this time featuring a highly customisable frame.
Following the 67g Makalu 67, Mountain is launching Makalu Max, a wireless gaming mouse boasting a PixArt PAW3370 sensor rated for 19,000DPI, with 400IPS, 50G tracking, and 1-to-2mm lifting distance. The mouse rocks a fast 1,000Hz polling rate via 2.4GHz or USB Type-C connectivity, enough for the needs of most gamers.
The left and right buttons sit on top of Kailh GM 8.0 switches rated for at least 80 million actuations, coupled with 80 hours of battery life to ensure uninterrupted gaming sessions. If the battery does dry out unexpectedly, there is always the handy 1.8m long cable to top up while in use.
But that’s not even the star of the show. That spot is taken by the excellent customisability of shape and weight. The former adjusts its body using two sets of side grips offering thumb and pinky rests or reduced size for claw grip, whereas the latter allows incremental adjustment for weight and distribution. Whether you like full-hand support, a small footprint, or any other combination, the Makalu Max is ready. Inside the box, we find two sets of side grips plus three weight discs adding 10.6g, 8.4g, and 6.6g.
Still not satisfied? You can also 3D-print your own side grips by simply downloading the STL files before editing them to your liking.
Measuring at its smallest 127mm (L) × 70.2mm (W) × 42.2mm (H) and weighing about 110g with standard side grips / without weight discs, the Makalu Max includes eight buttons, the main left/right, a DPI and profile switcher on top, forward/backwards, a sniper key on the side, and the clickable wheel, all programable into five onboard profiles via the brand’s Base Camp app.
Mountain’s Makalu Max gaming mouse is priced at $89.99/€89.99, backed by two years of warranty.
