MSI maxes the versatility stat of its Velox 300R case

A case that has it all in a neat package, wide GPU support, large included fans, and advanced water-cooling potential.

MSI has launched the MPG Velox 300R Airflow PZ PC case featuring dual-layer-blade fans, a built-in fan hub, and support for back-connect motherboards. Offering enough room for all types of cooling systems, Velox 300R should handle even the hottest hardware. And, it will do so without melting your wallet.

With this model, MSI aims for versatility above all. Inside its 485mm (L) x 235mm (W) x 518mm (H) dimensions you will find room for up to 305mm x 278mm E-ATX motherboards, including back-connect variants which hide cables behind. You also get space for up to 165mm-high CPU coolers, 400mm-long graphics cards, and 200mm-deep PSUs. Those still rocking SATA drives will have locations for four 2.5in HDDs/SSDs behind the motherboard tray, plus another 3.5in/2.5in spot near the PSU compartment. Note that the latter may interfere with radiator installation.

While we are at it, you can install up to three 360mm radiators in the front, side, and top, plus a 120mm on the rear, which is enough to cool any gaming setup. Though nice, many users will also go for air-cooling to take advantage of its absurd fan support which accommodates up to six 140mm plus seven 120mm fans, or 13 120mm. Three of these can be traded for dual 160mm in the front. The same can be done with the side ones which can be swapped for a fancy water distribution plate.

Velox 300R Airflow PZ comes bundled with two 160mm ARGB fans – with built-in speed control – pre-installed in the front plus a 120mm non-RGB fan on the rear. A nice addition since large PC case fans are pretty rare as manufacturers prefer the wider compatibility of 120mm and 140mm sizes. From our experience, large fans have the advantage of pushing a lot of air without needing to run fast, allowing your hardware to maintain a cool temperature even at low rpm. That said, increasing speed can quickly become noisy, so you better keep it low.

MSI claims that its dual-layer-blade fans can reduce CPU and GPU temperatures by 1.6°C and 1.7°C, respectively, compared to standard fans. Better yet, they do so while keeping dust out thanks to the plethora of filters located all around the case. Plus, when the time comes for a thorough cleaning, they can be easily removed to dust off. Lastly, I/O comprises two USB 5Gbps Type-A, one USB 20Gbps Type-C, plus a headphone combo jack, located on top of the chassis alongside the power buttons.

The MSI MPG Velox 300R Airflow PZ case is available at $149.99 on Amazon US. In the UK some retailers list it for pre-order at £130 which is not bad considering the included fans.
