The best resolution and refresh rate combo on a gaming monitor is a nebulous concept with different strokes for different folks. However, if you ask me, 240Hz at QHD takes the cake because it offers supremely smooth motion and detail without becoming unmanageable for midrange graphics cards – at least in modest games. MSI MPG 341CQPX is a prime example, and as luck would have it, the QD-OLED is currently discounted to its lowest price yet.

Brandishing a beautiful 22% off, the display has fallen under $700 on Amazon US, returning to its Black Friday lows. This puts it in direct competition with Alienware AW3423DW, although MSI’s faster panel gives MPG 341CQPX the advantage. I couldn’t see the same model reduced anywhere else in the world, but the slightly trimmer 175Hz MAG 341CQP has also fallen to its best-ever £649 price with 28% off in the UK. MSI MPG 341CQPX

For those who must have the fastest ultrawide QHD QD-OLED gaming monitor, accept no imitations; MPG 341CQPX is the one to buy. Read our review.

As is natural to Samsung’s third-gen QD-OLED panels, it’s not the brightest screen out there but in return you get magnificently rich colours, near-infinite contrast ratios, and perfect blacks courtesy of self-emitting pixels that individually switch off. There isn’t another screen type out there that beats its 0.03ms GtG (grey-to-grey) response time, making it the perfect gaming companion with a competitive edge.

Putting it to the test, our four-star MSI MPG 341CQPX review showed tight colour accuracy with a 1.65 Delta E and 98% DCI-P3 gamut coverage, making it a top-tier choice for your peepers. Both colour and luminance uniformity also exceeded all expectations, with less than 2% variance in its worst areas (a fifth of our 10% threshold).

There’s no better way to immerse yourself in an open-world game, exploring Cyberpunk 2077’s Night City or the sweeping oceans of Sea of Thieves with a humongous field of view thanks to the ultrawide’s extra peripheral vision. It won’t aid every title, as support for 21:9 aspect ratios lies in the hands of developers, but those that do benefit greatly. It’s one of those better to have and not need than need and not have kind of features.

Overall, upgrading your gaming monitor is an investment and one worth the extra cash. It’s something that’ll likely stay with you until its pixels falter. In my case, the extra vibrance of a QD-OLED made it feel like I was cheating in Rainbow Six Siege for a little while until I adjusted and I struggle to go back to an LCD with each review.

Fortunately, Amazon gives you a month to decide whether you’ve made the right choice with a 30-day return window from purchase. MSI also provides a three-year warranty to protect you from any unlikely mishaps, with a limited extension to cover burn-in.
