We’re now less than a week away from our first look at GeForce RTX 50 Series, and it appears that the graphics cards will make their full debut shortly after. While Nvidia is naturally saving its official word for its CES 2025 press conference, one party claims to know exactly when GeForce RTX 5080 will hit the scene.
In a now-deleted X post, Hong Kong outlet HKEPC shared that Nvidia apparently plans to release GeForce RTX 5080 on January 21. This means the graphics card would launch just a little over two weeks after its reveal during CEO Jensen Huang’s keynote on January 7 at 2:30AM (GMT).
This echoes previous rumblings that both GeForce RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 will launch in January, with their siblings following suit across the next two subsequent months. For now, I expect to see the former graphics card debut first based on leaks from kopite7kimi in mid-2024.
Pushing GeForce RTX 5080 into the world ahead of the rest of the series mirrors release schedules of prior generations, namely GeForce RTX 30 Series and 20 Series. It’s possible that dwindling stock in light of the alleged end of GeForce RTX 40 Series production allows Nvidia to return to old habits, but it’s hard to say for certain. At the very least, it provides another useful comparison point for GeForce RTX 5090 come its debut, presumably a week or so later.
January is shaping up to be a particularly busy month in the world of graphics cards, with the two aforementioned GeForce GPUs sharing space with offerings from both Intel and AMD. Arc B570, essentially a cutdown Arc B580 at a lower price, will officially arrive January 16 with eyes on the low-end market. Meanwhile, Radeon RX 9070 XT will allegedly join the party before Chinese New Year (January 29), aiming to win the hearts of gamers seeking a midrange pixel pusher.
Tempting as it is to ride these waves of excitement and prepare to pre-order, we should all take the details above bar Arc B570 with a pinch of salt. Furthermore, it’s wise to wait and see how competing cards like GeForce RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070 shape up to ensure we get maximum bang for our buck.
Nvidia will have the final say on GeForce RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 at CES 2025, in less than week, so heed the advice of one Gary Barlow and “just try and have a little patience.”
Club386 will be in Las Vegas for the show, so stay tuned for any and all announcements. Until then, give the site a follow on Google News to make sure you don’t miss any of our daily news coverage, as well as reviews and other thoughts on all things tech.
