While Nvidia has already shared much of its GeForce RTX 50 Series, the company is yet to reveal specifications for RTX 5060 Ti and 5060. Alleged details for the former of the two graphics cards have now emerged online, suggesting it’ll be available with 16GB or 8GB of VRAM.
Leaker harukaze5719 shared an EAEU (Eurasian Economic Union) filing via X, containing references to GeForce RTX 50 Series cards. In it, there are multiple references to RTX 5060 Ti with 16GB and 8GB models.
If this is an indication of Nvidia’s plans, then it seems the company intends to mirror its RTX 4060 Ti strategy. References to RTX 5060 with 8GB of VRAM also strengthen previous rumours concerning that card.
Nvidia is yet to formally announce either graphics card, so we should take the above with a pinch of salt. However, I am concerned that these potential buffer sizes could harm the value of GeForce RTX 5060 Series, particularly compared to the likes of Arc B580 and potentially Radeon RX 9060.
Games like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle as well as The Last of Us are prime examples of how 8GB graphics cards are starting to fall behind the curve. While upscaling technologies like Nvidia DLSS can help alleviate pressures, a strong base buffer is always welcome and makes a GPU more versatile.
I’m curious to see whether Nvidia will equip GeForce RTX 5060 Ti and 5060 with faster albeit more-expensive GDDR7 VRAM modules. The company previously equipped 40 Series equivalents with GDDR6 memory, instead of the GDDR6X configurations you’ll find on RTX 4070 and above. As such, it’s not entirely out of the question for the company to opt for slower chips to cut costs.
As GeForce RTX 4060 production has reportedly come to an end, it shouldn’t be long now before Nvidia reveals more details about its RTX 5060 Series cards. I’d expect them to arrive no earlier than March, given 5070 Series pixel pushers are due to hit the scene come Feburary.
