Fake frames controversy aside, DLSS 4 looks like a blessing for RTX 50 Series-powered gaming laptops, giving the portable powerhouses extra oomph and respecting their battery life. If there’s one thing that can take the wind out of your sails, however, it’s price. Best Buy has let slip what you can expect to pay for one of these notebooks housing anything from RTX 5070 all the way to the flagship RTX 5090.
First caught by hardware pundit Momomo_us, there are eight Asus models and a single HP device still listed at the time of writing. None are available for purchase, instead partnered with a ‘Coming Soon’ label and the ability to sign up for notifications, which isn’t surprising since the official launch has sight on March.

A 16in Asus ROG Strix G16 OLED sets the stage, starting prices at $1,899 for an RTX 5070 Ti. Both Asus and Best Buy confirm that it’s paired with 16GB of memory, a 1TB SSD, and an AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX processor that hasn’t officially been announced yet despite CES 2025 having come and gone. These power a 16:10 Full HD screen at 165Hz refresh rate, which should be a cinch to saturate.
If you want something a bit chonkier and don’t mind paying an extra grand, ROG Strix G18 is its bigger brother with double the memory and storage capacity. The beefier 18in screen sticks with an OLED panel but increases resolutions to 2.5K at 240Hz, powered by Nvidia’s 16GB GeForce RTX 5080 instead. It’s not exactly a 1:1 comparison, given the CPU swaps to an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX, but it’s certainly a step up for $2,900.
Asus ROG Zephyrus is the most prominent range here, spanning five gaming laptops. The smaller G14 OLED comes in two different flavours, starting at $2,200 for RTX 5070 Ti and $3,000 for RTX 5080. Both models pack identical specs bar storage capacities, with 32GB of RAM, the same AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX leading the charge, and a 3K resolution screen complete with 120Hz refresh rate.
There are three Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 models: one catering to the mid-range, another the high-end segment, and one enthusiast. The $1,900 RTX 5070 SKU comes with 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, while both the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 specs double memory and capacities for $3,200 and $4,000 apiece. Otherwise, each carries the same Intel Core Ultra 9 285H chip and a 2.5K OLED screen at 240Hz refresh rate.
Finally, an Asus ROG Strix Scar 18 sits at the top with the flagship RTX 5090 under its hood. It’ll cost a whopping $4,200, but comes with the leading Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor, 32GB of RAM, and an 18in screen boasting 2.5K resolution and 240Hz refresh rate. There’s no OLED here, but Mini LED picks up the slack with 2,000 dimming zones and brighter ACR layers.
It’s worth keeping in mind that Asus often comes touch more expensive than other brands on the market, but HP Omen Max 16 shows that they’re all in the relative ballpark. The device is identical ROG Strix G18 albeit a touch smaller at 16in and with half the storage capacity, all for $200 cheaper.
