It’s very rare that we see graphics card prices come down, especially those that belong to Team Green. Thankfully, the elves have whipped up a Christmas miracle, wrapping Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC Windforce in a nice discount-clad bow that brings the GPU down its lowest price yet.
Cast your eyes over to Amazon and you’ll spot 7% off the triple-fan pixel pusher in the US, bringing prices down to $789.99. Out of the seven regions I’ve checked, this is the only one boasting its cheapest price ever, but you’ll also notice a hefty 21% drop to €917 in Italy. This absolute monster of a graphics card tickles the high-end GPU market, leaping over RTX 4070 Ti to offer performance that’s just short of RTX 4080. It all comes down to its 16GB of GDDR6X memory, which hums along to the tune of Nvidia’s default 21Gb/s given it’s so close to its upper limit there’s no room for higher frequencies.
Translating this to tangible results, you’ll get triple-digit frame rates in most games at FHD or QHD resolution, including 150fps in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla at 1440p with the highest settings possible. Fortunately, there’s a little extra overclocking wiggle if you crank a 112% power target, leading to an extra 7fps on our favourite Ubisoft-made Viking adventure.
Coming from the previous generation, that’s a monumental 22% performance jump over RTX 3090. Gigabyte even bills it as twice as capable in ray tracing, largely down to its improved upscaling suite. With access to DLSS 3, RTX 4070 Ti Super leverages the best super sampler in 2024, giving supported games that 4K push.
Unfortunately, you won’t get this in time for Christmas, but you do have until January 31, 2025 to return it if you’re not happy with your purchase. It’s always nice to have a safety net when sinking a fair sum of cash into an upgrade.
