Support charity this Pancake Day and win with AOC monitors

All for a good cause.

It’s always nice seeing people come together for a good cause. To celebrate this Pancake Day, AOC and MMD are hosting an event with TPV-Cares to raise money for charity. Whether you can attend physically or fancy participating from the comfort of your own home, there’s something for everyone.

The aim is to raise awareness of the challenges that disabled gamers face. Disability charity Scope raises some harrowing statistics with its Accessibility in Gaming Report. As of 2020, 60% of gamers with impairments struggle with hurdles when playing. Worse yet, 40% can’t even play some games at all.

Setting a goal of £5,000, all proceeds made during AOC’s Pancake Day Special go directly to Special Effect and TheRockinR. If you’re unfamiliar with either charity, I highly recommend checking them out. SpecialEffect is famous for its innovative and bespoke technologies that help those with physical challenges get back to gaming. TheRockinR is all about healing, delivering Medical Gaming Carts to those in hospitals throughout the UK.

The physical event officially begins on February 13 at 18:00 GMT and runs until 22:00. Taking place at Platform Shoreditch in London, attendees can try out some pancakes, pay to enter a Mario Kart tournament, and try their luck in a raffle.

AOC hasn’t said what exactly you can win beyond “amazing prizes.” It’s a safe bet you’ll probably walk away with a monitor if you’re fortunate, though. Just don’t expect this monitor, as it’d be a nightmare to lug home.

If you’ve never been to Platform, it’s a swanky venue filled with great food and cocktails. The menu might change slightly for this particular event. AOC often pulls out all the stops with a signature drink or two. Only time will tell.

“AOC and MMD have been supporting both TheRockinR and SpecialEffect for several years. We are extremely excited to be able to host this event together with TPV-Cares and are hoping to raise a sizeable amount for them,” says Paul Butler, Regional Sales Director – UK & Ireland, MMD Monitors & Displays B.V. “To us, this is more than just a gathering; it’s a movement. Let’s come together to game, enjoy pancakes, and make a lasting difference!”

You can donate directly using the JustGiving crowdfunding link at any time. And yes, there’s a Club386 giveaway to mark the occasion, which you can enter now!
