TeamGroup adopts CAMM2 RAM in speeds up to 7,500MT/s

Faster memory is just around the corner.

TeamGroup has unveiled its T-Create Expert Ai CAMM2 memory module for compatible desktops and laptops featuring the new compact design and higher capacity. A new and more efficient way of powering your apps is coming soon.

For its T-Create Expert Ai CAMM2 modules, TeamGroup uses LPDDR5X memory chips capable of reaching up to 7,500MT/s at CL28 timings, delivering 60GB/s of bandwidth. That said, the brand also plans slower models to cover other price points, one of which runs at 6,400MT/s at CL24, resulting in a 51.2GB/s bandwidth. Both speed targets will be offered on 32GB and 64GB modules, though no word about when we can expect 128GB or large format 256GB modules.

For those unfamiliar, CAMM2 or LPCAMM2 are a new standard for computer RAM using an LGA-type connection instead of the DIMM/SODIMM slot design found on your good old DDR 1 to 5. CAMM2 promises higher operating frequency and capacity at the same or smaller footprint. Where SODIMM DDR5 maxes out at 5,600MT/s on 64GB modules, CAMM2 promises to go at least up to 128GB at 7,500MT/s.

Though the brand advertises this model as specially designed for future AI laptops, these speeds can also benefit existing tasks – including gaming. This new format by itself is worth considering due to its compact nature and higher speeds, no need to add any buzzwords to make it appealing.

While it may not be important for laptop users, TeamGroup has also slapped a thin graphene sticker on top of the memory chips, which can help spread the heat while looking nicer. Seeing how desktop motherboards have started adopting the CAMM2 format, TeamGroup’s solution will at least have the benefit of blending better for those who care about aesthetics.

TeamGroup should unveil more information about these modules plus its other storage solutions during Computex on June 4.
