TeamGroup launches T-Create Classic PCIe 4.0 DL SSD and EC01 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD Enclosure Kit

Solid speeds, competitive prices.

TeamGroup has announced the T-Create Classic PCIe 4.0 DL M.2 SSD in 1TB and 2TB capacities aimed at content creators, alongside the EC01 M.2 NVMe SSD enclosure to carry data on the go.

Joining its T-Create series, the Classic PCIe 4.0 DL SSD will be cooled for the first time in this series by the brand’s thin heat-dissipating graphene. The combination of TLC 3D NAND and a PCIe 4.0 interface allows this SSD to reach transfer speeds up to 5,000MB/s in read and 4,500MB/s in write on the 1TB model, and 4,800MB/s read plus 4,400MB/s write on the 2TB. IOPS on the other hand are similar for both sizes, hitting 525K in read and 550K in write. Note that there is no DRAM cache on these, instead, they rely on SLC caching to improve performance.

If these numbers sound familiar to you, it’s because they are a carbon copy of TeamGroup’s MP44L M.2 PCIe Gen 4 SSD specs. The resemblance also includes respective 600TBW and 1,200TBW endurance, 1,500,000 Hours MTBF and five-year warranty. All point to a rebranded product, which is no bad thing since the new T-Create models are cheaper than existing counterparts.

The brand will be launching the 1TB variant at $105.99 (RRP) and the 2TB at $205.99 (RRP), with availability around mid-December 2022.

EC01 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD Enclosure Kit

TeamGroup is also expanding into new territories with the launch of EC01 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD Enclosure Kit which allows you to install your newly acquired Classic PCIe 4.0 DL SSD or any M.2 SSD that follows the 2230, 2242, 2260, or 2280 dimensions for on-the-go storage.

The EC01 is made of aluminium measuring 117mm (L) x 35mm (W) x 16mm (H) and has a toolless design ensuring fast and easy installation. It supports both B and M key interface formats. Sadly, this enclosure uses a USB 3.2 Gen 2×1 interface limiting transfer speeds to 1,000MB/s, though you do get a 25cm USB-C to USB-A cable plus USB-A to USB-C adaptor for maximum compatibility.

The EC01 will be available in late November at $39.99 (RRP) backed by a one-year warranty.
