Breathe it in, folks. Black Friday is here, and I smell an excellent offer on a QD-OLED monitor. I’m picking up pleasant aromas of a current generation panel, with hints of MSI’s renowned quality-control for its self-emissive displays. This scent is irresistible, hypnotising, there’s no mistaking it: it must be MAG 271QPX QD-OLED.

MAG 271QPX

Visualize your victory with the MAG 271QPX QD-OLED gaming monitor.

Who nose how long I could’ve kept that going? Stepping back into the reality of the deal, MAG 271QPX is a sight for sore eyes with its 23% ($170) discount, now available on Amazon for just $579.99. Fortunately for our North American friends, this is a US-exclusive, but UK shoppers can pick up the prior generation model for £549.

MAG 271QPX uses the 27in panel that I fell in love with writing my Gigabyte Aorus FO27Q3 review, albeit with a touch of MSI tuning. It boasts a native resolution of 2560×1440 and a shockingly high refresh rate of 360Hz. Combine these specifications with the splendour of QD-OLED, and you have an incredibly versatile monitor that’s great for practically anything you’d want to display on it.

Sifting through all the OLED offers currently on Amazon, this is the most affordable of the bunch that I’d go for. While slightly more expensive than older 240Hz options, MAG 271QPX advantages aren’t exclusive to its 50% bump in refresh rate. Its Gen 3 QD-OLED panel is brighter, more durable, and is less prone to text fringing. Whichever way you cut it, it’s a superior panel.

MSI claims MAG 271QPX QD-OLED offers a DCI-P3 coverage of 99%, with an average Delta E of ≤2. Given our experience with its sibling, MPG 321URX, I’m confident every unit will at least come close to these targets given unavoidable differences stemming from panel variance. In short, the monitor will deliver rich and accurate colours that will prove a feast for the eyes.

Like other QD-OLED monitors, MAG 271QPX is subject to burn-in. Thankfully, it’s easy to mitigate this risk through steps like using screensavers. MSI goes the extra mile though by providing several OLED care features built into the display. To top it all off, the company offers a three-year burn-in warranty.
