This 4K Samsung gaming monitor is a great buy for Prime Day

4K 144Hz for less than £400.

If Prime Day’s good for one thing, it’s the event’s ability to make premium panel pricing plummet, as demonstrated by Samsung’s Odyssey G7. While this 4K gaming monitor normally commands a princely sum, its current cost makes it much more affordable. So, if you fancy yourself a dapper display to go with your rig, now’s the time to strike.

Over on Amazon, Odyssey G7 (G70B) is on sale for £369.55, down from £649.99. That’s a saving of £280.44 (43%), one of the largest discounts we’ve seen on a monitor during Prime Day 2024. It’s also the cheapest this monitor has ever been, by quite a margin, according to CamelCamelCamel. You’ll need to act fast, though, as there’s only a limited amount of stock available at this price.

Odyssey G7 has all the hallmarks of the best gaming monitors on the market, with its strong specs shining all the more at its newfound price point. Housed inside its chassis is a IPS panel, packing a native 4K resolution and refresh rate of 144Hz. So, should you have the hardware to drive it, this Samsung display offers images that are as smooth as they are sharp, with 157 pixels-per-inch (PPI) across its 28in screen.

Of course, Odyssey G7 arrives brimming with other niceties such as Adaptive Sync, being both G-Sync compatible and boasting FreeSync Premium Pro certification. While it does meet DisplayHDR 400 specifications, there’s no local dimming functionality to speak of, and we’d suggest viewing this monitor as a purely SDR screen. The adjustability of the stand, including height, tilt, swivel, and pivot, will greatly please ergonomic enthusiasts too.

One thing that separates Odyssey G7 from its competitors is its integrated operating system. This brings over the ‘Game Bar’ function you may have seen on Samsung TVs, giving you a quick way to modify response times, picture presets, screen ratio, and sound settings. In addition, the monitor also supports streaming apps such as Netflix and Prime Video, removing the need for a Fire Stick or Chromecast. Of course, this is all much more convenient to access via the included remote.

Don’t forget, these are Prime Day deals, so you’ll need Amazon Prime in order to get in on these promotional prices. If you’re new to the service, we’ve put together guides on what you get with an Amazon Prime subscription and have tips on how to find the best Prime Day deals.
