As new graphics cards hog all the attention, it’s easy to miss one of the best CPU deals I’ve come across this year. Although Arrow Lake processors have taken centre stage in Intel’s line-up, few offer the same value as Core i5-14400 at its usual price, let alone when it’s fallen to the cheapest it’s ever been.

Saving you 11% on Amazon US, the latest discount brings Intel’s best and brightest of yesteryear down to the lowest price we’ve seen to date. Setting you back just $169.98, you can plonk this into any LGA1700 motherboard for a cheap as chips setup that doesn’t skimp on performance. The deal seems to be exclusive to North America, but it’s worth trying your chances by clicking the button below.

Intel Core i5-14400

A robust ten-core CPU from Intel’s Raptor Lake Refresh lineup, ideal for high-performance computing needs, delivering power, and reliability for your tasks.

Intel Core i5-14400 may seem unassuming, but don’t let that fool you. While it shares the same hybrid six performance and four efficient core configuration and 16-thread count as its 13th Gen predecessor, it’s got a sharper edge with a boosted 4.7GHz clock speed. Just keep in mind you can’t overclock this one.

RAM-wise, i5-14400 plays nice with both DDR4 and DDR5, depending on your motherboard. If you’ve already got some older modules lying around, it could make for a quick upgrade, although DDR5 is worth the extra pennies should your budget stretch that far.

Speaking of keeping costs low, i5-14400 comes with integrated graphics for those without a discrete model in their system. You also won’t need to fork out for your own CPU cooler, as there’s an Intel Laminar RM1 blower bundled in the box. You’ll get more mileage out of a cheap Arctic Freezer 36, but this will get you started nicely. Plus, free is free.

As always, keep in mind that Amazon offers a 30-day refund. You can try out the CPU for yourself and simply send it back in the first month if you’re not taken with its price-to-performance.
