Xbox Elite Series 2 has pretty much dominated all other gamepads. In fact, we regard it as the best controller money can buy. Its lofty cost is perhaps its only shortcoming. But you’re smart. You waited until it came plummeting down to its lowest price yet.
With a massive 41% discount, the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 is now under £95 on Amazon UK. This is actually £20 cheaper than its Black Friday pricing, and fits right in with Microsoft’s wider Xbox Series X sale. You can get both the console and the controller for less than the cost of a Series X at RRP.
Series 2 goes beyond a normal controller. It kits you out with adjustable thumbsticks including spares, four rear paddles, an additional standard D-pad, a dedicated charging dock, and a carry case that doubles up as a second place to charge it.
It’s a little heavier than your standard gamepad, but not so weighty that you feel fatigued. Largely, this is because it’s metal, giving it a solid feel. The rubberised grips go a long way to add comfort and the sheer modularity means you can tune it to your liking.
Xbox Elite Series 2 Core
“Xbox Elite Series 2 Core strips back the accessories of the original to achieve a cheaper price. It’s still the same controller at its heart, though, with the same upgradable modularity.”

For a decidedly no-frills experience, the Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 Core is also at its lowest price. The white model chops 30% off, sitting at £79.99. Unfortunately, the blue and red variants are still £109.99 and there’s no sign of the custom Design Lab versions coming down in price any time soon.
True to its name, Elite Series 2 Core does away with the accessories, giving you the base experience. It provides you with the gamepad, USB Type-C charging cable, and thumbstick adjustment tool. The good news here is that you can get paddles, extra thumbsticks, and alternative D-pads later down the line. There’s even a robust third-party market around it.
Whichever controller you pick, you’ll be well-prepared for the next round of Rockstar’s Table Tennis. They both pair well with PC just as well as console, too. Frankly, I can’t imagine playing Rocket League any other way.
As usual, we recommend bagging an Amazon Prime subscription before you purchase. Among the wealth of benefits is quicker delivery, guaranteeing you’ll get it sooner rather than later. Yes, it’ll arrive before Christmas, so long as you don’t leave it until last minute.
