LG has opened pre-orders for the world’s first 5K2K OLED monitor with dual refresh mode. Targeting users looking to elevate their gaming experience, this large beast has all the features you’d want, plus some more.
Joining the brand’s UltraGear series, 45GX950A-B is a 45in display rocking a 5120×2160 resolution OLED panel. This puts it in the middle of the stack regarding sharpness and clarity with a 125PPI (Pixel Per Inch), slotting it just below 32in 4K options. That said, those opting for this model will likely be gamers due to its aggressive 800R curve and 21: aspect ratio, which envelopes your view and pulls you into the game.

The star of the show is 45GX950A-B’s dual refresh rate mode that allows you to choose between a higher 5120×2160 resolution at 165Hz or a lower 2560×1080 at 330Hz. The former is perfectly fine for most users, plus even the fastest RTX 5090 machines will have a hard time pushing that amount of frames on modern ray-traced games anyway. Still, those who also enjoy competitive titles from time to time can switch to the faster mode when needed to take advantage of the increased smoothness necessary for target tracking. Moreover, LG claims that it uses an updated subpixel layout that reduces colour fringing.
As you can expect from an OLED-based screen, the pixel response time is rated for a blazing fast 0.03ms GtG, with gamut coverage reaching 98.5% of DCI-P3 and brightness blasting up to 1,300nits. The VESA DisplayHDR TrueBlack400 certification is also present, as well as HDR10 and DTS Headphone:X for audio. Not to forget the full complement of VRR technologies, including Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro.

On the connectivity side, you will find two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 2.1, a dual-port USB hub, plus a headphone jack. Lastly, its slim stand offers height, tilt, and swivel adjustments, with the possibility to swap it for a monitor arm using the 100mm VESA mount.
45GX950A-B is available at $1,999, backed by a two-year parts and labour warranty. No doubt an expensive monitor, but there are no cheaper alternatives with these specs. If you like the format, you can always ditch OLED for the IPS version which comes much cheaper.
